website of requirement

does anyone know of a website that collects simple things that are otherwise impossible to find? like the current bane of my existence, the federal standards for defining how much population constitutes a village, town, city, etc.? because if there is such a site, i will love it forever and use it often. and if there isn't, it's a brilliant idea and you should start it.

oh yes. extensively. and emailed them -- they do not seem to understand the simplicity of what i'm looking for. i'm sure it's there somewhere, but have exhausted my ideas on how to find it.

So I looked at wikipedia and I don't think there is an answer to your question. It depends on what the "area" wants to call itself.

For example, a village is bigger than a hamlet, but smaller than a town or city. What kind of crap answer is that.

I don't think there are strict guidelines that regulate the use of certain words for "areas". I mean, what if 5 babies are born and the population takes the "area" up to village status, but then a week later, 8 people die and now its a hamlet, but then 10 people are born so its a village again.

and in answer to your actual question...
