when you decide to go drinking at 9am...
... you know it's bound to be interesting. we used, as our actual justification, the math econ test we'd just taken (and to which i was 10 minutes late and on which i definitelty missed a 15 point question). and set off to find a bar in a city with so many bars per capita.
not only did we find one, we found one that opened AT 7AM!!! seriously. super sketchy, but there's not much choice that early, you know? so in we went. only... they wanted to card us. and it turns out i'd left my id in my office and my friend had left her wallet in her car (early tests screw with your thinking). so rather than sit and watch our other friend drink, we decided to wander further and perhaps gain positive utility from ice cream rather than alcohol.
but it's still 10am. none of the ice cream shops in town are open. we now know this, because we have walked to three of them. we finally looked so pathetic, i guess, that walrus let us in half an hour early (yay for local businesses!). so we ate giant yummy ice cream "saturdaes" in the little park and watched the children play in the fountains. and reminisced about how "back in my day kids didn't have all them fancy video games and had to play with water and grass" -- which is true. lawn mowing day was always a fun time; we made nests out of the grass clippings. but perhaps that is too much information.
and then, of course, we wandered. and wandered into lucky's. a bar that just serves those who are no longer 19, imagine that. there is a reason why it's one of the best bars in town. and you've got to admit, there's just something ridiculously enjoyable about shooting whiskey before noon. especially when you're with someone who has never shot whiskey before, but that's just the fun of the drink. (whiskey and ice cream for lunch. i'm so healthy!)
only it was apparently a little too fun, because when i looked at the clock i realized that i had slightly less than 20 minutes to walk back to campus, all the way across campus to pick up tests from my office to distribute to the little children, and halfway back across campus to the actual class. needless to say, i was lateish. and booking it 8-10 blocks kind of kills your buzz. luckily it's purely entertaining enough to make up for it, because what responsible person is late to work because they forgot to leave the bar? i suppose it helps that i also started thinking about the infamous "i like to work out when i'm drunk, because my sweat tastes like alcohol and i can just lick it off!" conversation (i do miss the sigmas).
fun times all around, at any rate. i highly recommend ridiculous.
