what the antisocial do in social situations
personally, i play games. one of my favorites, as i was accidentally reminded tonight, is to be seated when i meet people. boring for the average person, yes. but the average person isn't 6'2" and shortwaisted. in other words, i look fairly normal until i stand up, at which point i'm suddenly the tallest person in the room (or at least close to it). it leads to some priceless facial expressions, i promise. i like watching people look surprised, then try to look like there's nothing remotely amiss (they almost always overplay it). the best victims are tall men, because they then seem compelled to come stand next to me; to verify, i think. it's best when they're obviously trying to be smooth about it, because you can watch the whole decision process of "nah, no one will notice" -- and then looking furtively around to see if anyone noticed. poor things, it never occurs to them that i noticed because it happens all the time. and i'm not smiling at them because i'm friendly, i'm smiling because i'm laughing at them. is that mean? (if i could twirl my hair and chew bubble gum at the same time, i would do it while asking that question. only... i don't think i can).
okay, so when i explain it all out like that, it's not nearly as funny as Conversations With __. but it's still entertaining to watch. you should try it.

look, people, if you don't post enough, i'm forced to entertain my own self, and it tends to go badly. so fix it, okay?
