i could die and go to whole foods...

... and that would be okay.

i tend to smile as soon as i walk in the door. because for a girl silly enough to take actual field trips to grocery stores, it's like walking in to the louvre. well, maybe the musee d'orsay. either way, a good thing. i make a point of walking down every aisle lest i should miss the tiniest bit of interesting. and i always spend too much. and usually exclaim out loud over something at least once (yes, i'm that girl).

granted, the sushi chef tends to watch me closely as if he is just itching to scream "NO SUSHI FOR YOU!!!" while brandishing a large knife/samurai sword. but i smile irritatingly and deliberate over the trays all the same. because when i make my own sushi, while it is entertaining, it always looks like maybe my house got hit by a rice truck in the middle of a rainstorm, so i'd really rather pay to much to be glowered at for good presentation.

in certain fits of whimsy, i will actually drive to boulder solely to experience boulder whole foods in all it's glory. it certainly makes the long list of favorite places in the world. the store itself isn't that much different, but the people watching is amazing. every stereotype in the state wanders or shuffles on through if you wait long enough. you can put too much salad in your little box and by the time you finally finish, you'll have literally seen all sorts. and some of the specimens are so... choice. it's hours of entertainment, i tell you.

the icing on this particular culinary cake at the moment, though, is that they have real maple sugar candy. have i been craving this since the last time i went to banff approximately 13 years ago? definitely yes. i practically did a little dance. people looked at me strangely. it was fantastic.

make your own day. go to whole foods.

I am moving to Fort Collins JUST for the Whole Foods store there. oh, and I guess you live there, so that's cool too. :)
