question of the day

please, be interactive.

what book/series read before age 12 has done the most to influence your idea of what a relationship should or shouldn't be?

i'll start. it's so telling, i'm embarrassed to say it; but if i don't play, why would you play along? mine would have to be the anne of green gables series. somehow, it got so deeply lodged in my head that i didn't discover it's presence until years later -- but the influence is apparent, and i fear the havoc has already been wreaked.

The Runaway Bunny was always one my favorite stories, I'm sure it was the illustrations at the time, but the story has always stuck with me.

...don't know if that's what your looking for...

after thinking about it last night i finally decided that it was "corduroy," the book about the little bear in the department store.

"will you be my friend?"
"i've always wanted a friend."

if we're talking before 12, mine is the same as yours. specifically, i think rilla of ingleside (the last aogg book) - i only read that book a million times, hoping for a war that some boy could come back from for me... granted, now that there actually is a war i've rethought that, but it was tre' romantic at 11...
